With respect to moon transits: The 8th house is an evil or dusthana Bhava and the Moon transiting the 8th house is its weakest transit – this transit is better known as the Chandrashtami. When the sun and the moon are in the exact opposite signs or 180 degrees apart, it is called Poornima or the full moon day or the 1st day of the bright fortnight. The waxing Chandra (Shukla Paksh) and Poornima (full Moon) days are generally considered to be auspicious while the waning Chandra (Krishna Paksh) and Amasvasya (new Moon) days, inauspicious.
